“We are not aware of things until we understand their deeper meaning. Someone will ask you to look at a stone, and you will look at it, but if you have no knowledge of it, it will be just an ordinary stone, won’t it? But when that person tells you that it is a very precious stone, what happens? At first you look at it as any other stone, but when you hear that it is precious, a special appreciation begins to awaken in you. 'Ah, it is precious!' And then that person tells you that it is a diamond, and you like it even more. Your interest grows still more! Afterwards, they tell you that it is the philosopher’s stone. Wow! Now you have great dreams!
The more you know something, the more your appreciation for it grows. The more you know Bhagavān, the closer you come to Him through your bhakti , the more your bhakti arises. First, by knowing yourself, and then, the greater the surrender to Him."
